Privacy Policy
This policy explains how The Gadget Room handles your personal information under the Protection of Personal Information Act (POPIA). Short version: we collect only what we need to get your order to you, and we never sell your data. Last updated: 11 July 2026.
What we collect
When you place an order: your name, mobile number, optionally your email, your chosen collection store and, for delivery orders, your delivery address. When you browse: standard anonymous analytics (pages visited, device type) via Vercel Analytics — no advertising trackers, no profiles.
Why we collect it
Solely to process your order: confirming stock, contacting you on WhatsApp or by phone, holding items for collection, arranging courier delivery, and handling returns or warranty claims. Where online payment is offered, payment details are handled entirely by our payment provider — we never see or store card numbers.
Where it lives & how long
Order details are stored securely with our database provider (Supabase) with access restricted to store administrators. Courier partners receive only what they need to deliver (name, phone, address). We keep order records for as long as needed for warranties, returns and tax law, then delete them.
Your rights
You may ask us at any time what personal information we hold about you, ask us to correct it, or ask us to delete it (where the law doesn't require us to keep it). Message us on WhatsApp (+27 66 019 8160) and we'll sort it out. If you're not satisfied, you may complain to the Information Regulator (inforegulator.org.za).
Cookies
We use only functional storage: your shopping bag and recently-viewed items live in your own browser (localStorage) and are never sent to us until you place an order. No third-party advertising cookies.
